The short answer: tune the AC in spring, the heat before winter, change filters every 1–3 months, and keep the outdoor coil clean year-round. That rhythm catches small problems before a 104° afternoon turns them into an emergency.
Spring: get ahead of the heat
Before the first real heat wave, book an AC tune-up: we check refrigerant charge, clean the coil, test the capacitor, and catch worn parts. A capacitor found in April is cheap; the same one in July at night is an emergency call. Our summer-prep checklist has the details.
Summer: filters and airflow
Change filters every 1–3 months, keep two feet of clearance around the outdoor unit, and clear debris off the coil. Restricted airflow causes half the "not cooling" calls we get — and the right MERV filter matters as much as changing it.
Fall: don't forget the heat
Before the first cold snap, have the heating system checked — every furnace visit ends with a combustion and carbon-monoxide test. See our mild-winter heating guide.
Year-round: the easy button
The simplest way to stay on schedule is the $159/yr maintenance plan: two seasonal visits, a waived service-call fee, 10% off repairs, and priority scheduling. Here's exactly what's included. Request a visit or browse the Learning Center.
